The Friend-Zone according to Wikipedia ; “refers to a platonic relationship where-in one person, most commonly a man, wishes to enter into a romantic or sexual relationship, while the other does not”, the term was popularised by an episode of Friends entitled where Ross, who was lovesick for Rachel, was described by character Joey Tribbiani as being the “Mayor of the Friend-Zone”…
It is a lonely place to be once you find yourself in the Friend-zone, whilst many have accepted their position, some try and escape with inevitable failure. The only thing that is proven to escape the razor wired, german shepard patrolling, crocodile moated, laser beamed Friend-Zone, is;
- More Alcohol….
I recently saw this picture doing the rounds on the internet, which summed up “who women think they want” and “who they actually end up dating”, and loads of women commented on this photo saying how “sweet it was”, and how they “wish guys like that existed”, well guess what, they do! and whats even better is they are actually very easy to find, as they are in exactly the same place you left them when they gave you that cuddle when you were upset about your douchebag boyfriend who cheated one again,thats right, their in the Friend-Zone.
“I saw this picture on Instagram and people are saying “Thats disgusting?” Well, if that were my girlfriend i would run her a hot bath, get her a fresh pair of clothes and warm up the towel so its nice and cosy when she gets out the bath and make sure she has a nice warm cup of hot chocolate and had all day on the sofa to watch her favourite movies 🙂 Thats what a real man would say”
Unsurprisingly this post receives thousands of shares before it was strangely removed by Facebook. Girls who shared the post went back to their boyfriends who were inevitably down the pub with their mates, immediately forgetting that this post every existed and carried on their lives as normal with a guy who would have most likely commented “That’s disgusting!!!” on the Facebook post.
I have seen my fair share of nice guys who have been single for years who would probably do everything that a girl wanted, and be “perfect”, but i think that it is only once you get to a certain age that women start to appreciate these qualities in a guy, once they just tire themselves out of going out with douchebags.
From personal experience, the best way to genuinely get out of the Friend-Zone is to take yourself out of the situation, meet other girls and don’t put all your eggs in one basket, once the object of your desires sees that you are with other girls and moving on independently without her this will instantly become attractive to her and she will start to miss having you around her.
This is where you can make the most of the situation and the ball will now be in your court.
