‘ISIS does not represent Islam’ has now become the ‘token’ phrase of choice by liberals, ‘moderate’ Muslims, politicians and pundits whenever we hear of yet more horrific beheadings, suicide bombings or gang-rapes — all ‘coincidentally’ committed by Muslims across the planet…
I have to admit, I find these futile attempts at trying to disassociate the ideology with inspired acts of terror a little odd — especially when the last words uttered by these barbaric balaclavad Muslim terrorists as they stick a knife into the neck of a non-Muslim is, ‘God Is Great’ …
I will be the first to admit, that on the whole, ISIS do not represent the behaviour of 1.5 billion Muslims. However, could it be that the reason for this, is not because the ‘peaceful majority’ take their ‘divine’ inspiration to be peaceful people from the Quran — but instead, simply choose to ignore the uncomfortable ‘bad bits’ …
I would say my knowledge of the Qur’an is well above average. I have read the Qur’an from cover to cover, and as part of my research into the faith, I have had many debates on the subject with Muslims who passionately claim to be practising the faith, just as ‘Allah’ has commanded them…
What I find most surprising during these discussions, is that whenever I go into the gory details of the Prophet Muhammad’s penchant for pedophilia, murderous rampages, sexual slavery of non-Muslims and compulsive lying that was used to spread Islam in the founding years of the religion — it comes as quite the shock. This is particularly strange, considering the evidence of all this has been conveniently written down for everyone to see…
Furthermore, we must not forget that the Prophet Muhammed is considered to be the ‘perfect human’ by Muslims across the globe. The name ‘Muhammed’ is also now thought to be the most popular name in the world, and has currently been given to an estimated 150 million men and boys…
It’s not just the life of Muhammed that my ‘opposition’ in these debates are frankly clueless about, but also the very basic tenants of the religion, that they so passionately claim to be meticulously practising.
If you are a Muslim woman reading this — Did you know that is it strictly Harem to remove hair from your eyebrows? In-fact, ‘Allah’ has even gone so far as to ‘curse’ Muslim women who dare to do so;
“Allaah has cursed the woman who does tattoos and the one who has them done, the woman who plucks eyebrows (al-naamisah) and the one who has it done (al-mutanammisah), and the one who files her teeth for the purpose of beauty, altering the creation of Allaah.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5931; Muslim, 2125)
Are you a Muslim who likes to listen to music, or dance at a birthday party? If so, you are also breaking the strict ‘perfect guide for life’ that Islam claims to provide. Otherwise, it again may surprise you to learn, that according to the Hanbali Hadith — dancing around and having fun makes you ‘no worse than a dog’;
“They are heathens, and the blood of one of them is [like] the blood of a dog.”
Obviously, the cliched template response to pointing out these uncomfortable facts about Islam, is that I have simply taken these verses ‘out of context’ — but as yet, I have never been able to find a single person to provide the ‘peaceful’, ‘correct’ context for these verses. It is always much easier to simply label you a ‘racist’ in a desperate attempt to shut down any further debate after-all…
So, with this in mind, let’s look at ISIS in a little more detail, the brutal, primitive acts of violence that they dish-out daily — and see if we can find any justifiable verses within the Qur’an / Hadiths that permits, or even more worryingly, actively encourages Muslims to carry them out in the name of “ever-so merciful” ‘Allah’..
Throwing homosexuals of buildings?
The fourth caliph, Mohammed’s son-in-law Ali, ordered a sodomite thrown from the minaret of a mosque. Others he ordered to be stoned. One of the earliest and most authoritative commentators on the Qur’an, Ibn ‘Abbas (died 687) blended both approaches into a two-step execution in which “the sodomite should be thrown from the highest building in the town and then stoned.
Raping Yazidi women and taking non-Muslims as sex slaves?
Quran (33:50) – “O Prophet! We have made lawful to thee thy wives to whom thou hast paid their dowers; and those (slaves) whom thy right hand possesses out of the prisoners of war whom Allah has assigned to thee” (This is just one of numerous verses within the Qur’an that condones taking sex slaves and raping them)
Apostates & Hypocrites?
Qur’an 9:73 – “O Prophet! strive hard against the unbelievers and the hypocrites and be unyielding to them; and their abode is hell, and evil is the destination.”
Dominating The World?
Qur’an 9:29 – Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book (Jews and Christians), until they pay the Jizyah with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.”
According to Shari’a, the body of legal rulings that defines how a Muslim should behave in all circumstances — deception is not only permitted in certain situations but may be deemed obligatory in others.
Suicide Bombing / Martyrdom?
Quran (9:111) – “Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His cause, and slay and are slain: a promise binding on Him in truth, through the Law, the Gospel, and the Quran: and who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? then rejoice in the bargain which ye have concluded: that is the achievement supreme.”
We can confidently conclude from this very small selection of over 104 verses within the Qur’an that encourages Islams followers to carry out terror, genocide and sexual slavery of ‘infidels’ — ISIS are clearly following the literal interpretation of the Qur’an to a tee. With this in mind, it would be hard to argue that ISIS are not, indeed, perfect Muslims.
Why can we not at the very least accept these verses exist and are being used to justify ISIS’s actions — even if you still prefer to ignorantly claim that they are being ‘taken out of context’?
I have learnt to accept the inevitable reaction by apologists for having the audacity to make these unarguable observations about Islam. It goes something like this — I will be deemed a ‘racist’, Islam means peace and I should shut my bigoted, fascist mouth up. In all honesty, I would happily be the first one to hold my hand up and say i’m sorry for my beliefs, if only anyone could actually provide some evidence to the contrary — or at least attempt to put these verses into the peaceful context that they adamantly claim ISIS are misinterpreting….
Sadly this will never happen and ISIS will continue to grow unchallenged by the Muslim community who claim to condemn these actions — standing silent with their fingers in their ears…
