Are the religious stupid? There are literally so many reasons why (in my opinion) there is no god, and before you say, “prove it”, I ask you to “prove” that I do not have a magical fire breathing unicorn in my back-pocket, see the logic?
This argument is used by many religious people as some sort of defence that because something cannot be dis-proved, therefore it must exist, well sadly it doesn’t work like that.
If you are religious and reading this then you may be surprised to learn that you are almost as atheist as me, in-fact, we are almost 99% percent in agreement in the way we think, amazing right? How is that possible?
Well, when you consider that you are an atheist for the other 4,199 religions that exists in the world today and I just happen to not believe in the one you believe as well, you can see we actually have a lot in common in the way we think, despite the fact that I assume we will strongly disagree on the fact that I believe the religious are stupid?
So lets look at your religion, I am assuming that you are just like 99% of all other followers of a faith, and your religion is nothing to do with a divine message from the heavens, but very simply the fact that you were born into a family that followed that religion and have been brought up under the same faith. The fact that you are a Christian or a Muslim is nothing more than an accident, as should you have been born into another family, or another country it’s likely that you would be of a different faith which makes your position within your religion a bit irrelevant and stupid, but I shall continue.
The Holy Book’s of most religions are all hugely contradictory and unscientific in the scripture, most have been plagiarised from earlier texts, The Quran for example plagiarised the Hellenic views on embryology and copied large parts of The Bible and Mormonism is a poor translation of Egyptian papyri. It’s unlikely that anyone who claims to be of a certain religion will have actually read their Holy Books enough to notice these facts though.
I’m not claiming to be a scholar on any religion, but I would confidently say that I know more about certain religions than many who still continue to label themselves with a particular faith. When you look at what the faith teaches and tells us about the world we live in which is in completely contradiction to all the scientific evidence available, it is hard not to laugh but also feel saddened by the sheer levels of blind ignorance that those who follow a religion display when defending their faith. The only response of creationists when presenting them with evidence of evolution for example is that; “it is still a theory” .. (face palm)
The most obvious piece of evidence that there is no “God”, is evidence which is all around us today and can be seen with your very own eyes, not that this will be enough for those of “faith”, but heres a few to get you started.
Worldwide Famine? Bone Cancer In Children? Insects thats only purpose in the world is to make people blind by burrowing into the eyes of it’s victims? Downs Syndrome? Tsunamis? Earthquakes…..?
If there was an “all powerful God” that created everything, why do we see so much evil in this world? Why would he give an innocent child the most evil debilitating illness to die slowly and painfully? Why would he not stop a Tsunami that killed 250,000 innocent people in Asia?
If there is a God, then he is either a bit of a cunt, or he is “all-powerful” and doesn’t stop it from happening? (still a cunt), or he simply doesn’t exist. I think I will go for the latter one, as frankly if he does fall into the first two categories why the hell would you want me to bow down and praise such an evil, sick, depraved psychopathic monster.
Creationists will say this is “the devils work”, but where did the devil come from? He didn’t exist before God created everything so therefore God must have created The Devil, that a pretty dumb idea for someone who was so intellectually superior that he managed to create a whole universe. Why would you create something just to be a pain in your ass? In any case, if God is all powerful then he would simply be able to get rid of the devil and everyone happy.
If you want to be religious and believe in this nonsense then that’s up to you, I know nobody will change your mind about that, just remember that when you die there is less than a 1 percent chance you are going to heaven anyway as according to the other 4,199 religions you are destined to a fiery hell unfortunately, and thats only if you are following your religion as it was meant to be, unlike the vast majority who simply pick and choose parts of their religion to suit their own moral compass. I never understand how anyone can claim to be a Muslim and yet they do not actively condone the stoning of homosexuals? Or a Christian and not have a sex slave? Thats just like me claiming to be a vegetarian and eating meat every night. It’s just not logical.
Whilst I believe that religion as an idea is moronic and baseless in any evidence, it can bring comfort to those that wish to believe when a family member passes away they will be in heaven with their mates living happily for eternity, but actually when you compare that to all the violence we see in the world as a result of religion it’s pretty obvious the world would be a better place without it.
As an atheist I think I have much more to live for in life as I don’t believe I will be going anywhere afterwards apart from a hole in the ground so it makes me enjoy life even more. I also get to eat bacon, have sex whenever I like and drink vodka which is a bonus. I can’t imagine the feeling of sheer grief of anyone spending their whole life wearing a silly dress, not eating a bacon sandwich and never having a Jager-bomb only to find out when they die that it was all a lie and they end up in hell because the Buddhists were right all along… Are the Religious stupid? We think so…
