Instagram is great for many things, but for young women who do not have jobs, it has become the perfect platform to post overtly filtered pictures to “beggy” followers or promote “healthy” juice pyramid scheme products.
I have bit my tongue for so long now, but this has to be said….
A message to Instagram models…
I am a fairly regular Instagram user, with a respectable 1300 followers (high five), who occasionally decide to like one of my latest pictures— inevitably of my latest meal or a picture from my travels.
When I decide to browse the various feeds and “popular posts” however, I see nothing but young girls posing suggestively in a thong on their latest “model shoot” and pouting like a duck having a stroke?
What I find particularly interesting though is that these accounts are receiving by far the most activity on Instagram, and the girls thirsty “fans” can’t seem to get enough of it? Much more so than my grilled prawns for lunch.
I don’t want to come across as a hater but this needs to be said;
“You are not a model”, never have been, and never will be..
What you are doing is not “modelling” so let me try and break it down for you —
Victoria Secret models are paid to pose on a professional set to sell the products, in-short this is what constitutes as a “model”, simple right?
What you are doing though, is posing against the backdrop of your seashell shower curtain at your mum’s house, getting your tits out and pulling silly faces.
I feel that this reality check needs to happen, because you are a fraud. The danger of your fraud could affect young children up and down the country who might look up to you thinking they can also be a successful “model” and give up on their dreams to copy your online lifestyle, only to end up narcissistic, free of any dignity and skint.
Please stop fooling yourself that the number of likes and shares your pictures receive actually translates into those people genuinely liking you. Men are simple beings, they see tits — they click like. Any picture of a half naked girl, whoever they are online will receive likes? It doesn’t make you special, it just makes you a soft porn star who’s not getting paid and there is nothing cool about that…
Being body confident is great, I get that, but let’s not forget how sophisticated the human brain is after billions of years of evolution? You can do so much more than lower yourself to giving away pictures of yourself, half naked on a website? Is this really the best you can do?
You may well be attractive and want to proudly show your body off, i’m happy for you if that’s the case, but let’s get real about it? That is not the reason you are posing half-naked on Instagram, it goes much deeper than that.
If you want to become a model, then do it the proper way, get a portfolio, apply to genuine agencies that can pay you for your time and follow your dream! Don’t lower yourself to dishing out your integrity to sad guys who are only interested in seeing you without your clothes. You are worth much more than that…
